Mesothreads for face lift - an innovative method of rejuvenation

The essence of the procedure

Lifting using meso- or biostimulating threads was developed in Korea in 2011. The popularity of the procedure is due to the ease of installation and affordable cost.

Thread fibers are naturally compatible and do not leave any marks on the skin - they dissolve as they are converted into carbon dioxide and water.

The material is injected under the skin according to a special scheme and forms a supporting frame of connective tissue, the compaction of which occurs by enveloping them in organic collagen.

Injections are carried out with a flexible needle or cannula, which makes the procedure safe and virtually painless.

The instruments are made of high-quality medical steel and are designed to work in different layers of the epidermis. The diameter of the fibers is thinner than a human hair - they are not harmful, are not felt and are invisible to others.

Composition of mesothreads

Mesothreads are the thinnest of all varieties used for thread lifting. They do not serve as reinforcement and cannot retain displaced tissue.

Their action is expressed in a biostimulating effect:

  • The mechanical process is injury from needles, which leads to increased regeneration and microcirculation of blood.
  • Chemical biostimulation depends on the composition. The material of manufacture affects the rate of biodegradation, the overall duration and severity of stimulation.

Most threads are made from suture materials:

  • Polydioxanone (PDO) . They have high biological compatibility and low price. The fibers begin to fragment in the tissues after a month, complete destruction occurs within six months. To slow down the process, some manufacturers apply gold plating or polyglycolic acid to their surface. The latter provides additional hydration at the implantation sites. Threads coated with a layer of gold take a little longer to break down - about 8 months.
  • Caprolactone (PLC) . It has a minimal biostimulating effect, the price is slightly higher.
  • Copolymer "L-lactide with caprolactone" (PLLA PLC) . A combined material (caprolactone with a layer of polylactic acid), which has a strong effect and affects the production of collagen in the skin. The cost is 50% more expensive than polydioxanone options.
  • Lactic acid 100% . Such threads are of the smooth linear type, which threatens their migration in tissues. This is facilitated by active facial expressions and the absence of notches.

An innovative solution in cosmetology is liquid mesothreads. Their content is represented by zinc and hyaluronic acid. The interaction of substances ensures the production of zinc salt, which dissolves over a long period of time.

Indications for use

Lifting with mesothreads is relevant in the absence of significant age-related changes in young and middle age (from 30 to 40 years).

At this time, minor defects are also removed with injections of Botox, hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite (mesorades).

The rejuvenation technique allows you to:

  • remove shallow eyebrow and frontal horizontal wrinkles;
  • reduce the severity of nasolabial folds;
  • smooth out the asymmetry of the lower third of the face;
  • improve the appearance and elasticity of the skin;
  • tighten eyebrows and areas near the eyes;
  • smooth out fine wrinkles and folds around the lips and eyes;
  • prevent age-related changes;
  • get rid of drooping upper eyelid;
  • raise the drooping corners of the mouth;
  • restore contour clarity;
  • hide the mask of grief (the grooves running from the mouth to the chin)
  • strengthen the skin before correction with reinforcing or lifting threads.

Attention! Installing mesothreads to tighten the abdomen, chest, correct the shape of the nose, restore the elasticity of the buttocks, arms and legs will not give the expected effect. Such problems are accompanied by irreversible processes (muscles atrophy, skin becomes thinner, skull bones change). They can only consolidate the result of plastic surgery.

What is the essence of lifting with mesothreads?

Mesolifting has been practiced in Russia for less than 5 years. And the unique cosmetic idea itself was born in South Korea. It was Korean doctors who proposed a tightening technique, which turned out to be effective and safe even for the delicate skin of Asian ladies. To this day, in all countries, “mesothreads” are considered the least traumatic and most “working” method of rejuvenating the face and body that actually exists.

The principle of mesolifting is not much different from classic thread cosmetic techniques. The injection needle passes through the skin, leaving the thread fixed in the tissue. But here it’s all about the composition - both the needle and the thread.

The needle, or otherwise “conductor,” is made of special flexible steel. And the threads are produced on the basis of polyoxidane. This is a synthetic absorbent material for surgical sewing. Plus, each inserted (implanted) thread is coated with polyglycolic acid. The materials are completely decomposed (into carbon dioxide and water), which means that after 180-200 days (about 2 years, depending on the characteristics of a particular organism), not a trace will remain of these threads in the skin tissues. But for 2 years (and for some, longer), the lifting effect will be obvious.

Advantages and disadvantages

AdvantagesFlaws
  • Installation of threads is painless.
  • There is no long recovery period after the procedure.
  • The result is visible within 3-5 days.
  • The punctures are small and do not leave scars or scars.
  • Along with thread lifting, you can choose and use other rejuvenation methods.
  • Finding a good specialist takes a lot of time. A favorable result without complications can be expected after a procedure performed by a professional doctor.
  • No change in case of serious age-related problems
  • The effect may not appear due to the individual characteristics of the body and incorrectly selected threads.

Facial skin tightening with mesothreads

Immediately after installing mesothreads on your face, you should begin to carefully care for it. Washing your face should be done using a variety of mild products. To do this, you should use purified water, various tonics and lotions that do not contain alcohol and acidic elements, as well as gentle gels and foams that do not contain abrasive substances.

In the daytime, after using the mesothread lifting technique, it is recommended to use cosmetics that can protect sensitive facial skin from exposure to ultraviolet rays. During the first few days, the skin should be treated with hydrogen peroxide. Chlorhexidine can also be used at injection sites.

To shorten the rehabilitation period, you need to give up certain foods after the mesothread installation procedure. First of all, this applies to coffee, alcoholic beverages, smoked foods, salty and spicy foods. In the first three days, eating too hot food can have an adverse effect on the patient’s condition.

What is allowed and what is prohibited to do after using the mesothread lifting technique

Immediately after the thread lifting procedure, you should avoid excessive contact of your hands with your face. The use of cosmetics can have an adverse effect, regardless of the basis on which they are made (herbal or synthetic).

If mesothreads were installed not in the face area, but in other parts of the body, the level of exposure to them should be reduced. For example, if the procedure was performed on the buttocks, you should sleep on your stomach.

Cold compresses, which should be done in parallel with treating the skin with antiseptic solutions, can have a good effect on the condition of the skin. Such rehabilitation is best carried out in the first 24 hours after skin rejuvenation with mesothreads.

If bruises and minor hemorrhages occur, gels and ointments can be used. It is worth noting that proper implementation of the procedure eliminates such complications. In most cases, these consequences are the result of the doctor’s inexperience or carelessness.

If there is pain after installing mesothreads on the face, the use of painkillers in low doses is allowed.

It is prohibited to visit baths and saunas in the first two weeks after the procedure. Even ordinary hot water can have an adverse effect on the condition of the skin. Active sports after skin tightening of this kind should also be limited to some extent.

Negative consequences of skin rejuvenation with mesothreads

In most cases, this procedure does not cause adverse consequences. But sometimes complications cannot be avoided due to the individual characteristics of the patient’s body.

Most often, skin tightening in this way can provoke the following consequences:

  • painful sensations;
  • bruises and hemorrhages;
  • swelling;
  • permanent skin fold;
  • skin tubercles;
  • facial asymmetry.

The most unfavorable consequence of skin tightening using mesothreads is infection. This only happens when the procedure is performed by unqualified cosmetologists. Therefore, it is necessary to trust such a procedure exclusively to professionals. Cosmetologists at the Medilier clinic have impressive experience in this field and use the mesothread lifting technique as carefully and carefully as possible. Our clinic performs the following types of procedures using mesothreads:

  • Implantation of 3D mesothread;
  • Implantation of CO mesothread (with notches);
  • Installation of Aptos mesothreads;
  • Reinforcement;
  • Needling.

Types of mesothreads

The classification of mesothreads consists of four types, let's look at what they are.

Smooth linear (“Mono”)

A model without notches, in which the end section is placed in the hole on the side of the sharp edge of the needle, and the main body is located outside. The disadvantage of linear options is the absence of notches, thanks to which the thread is held in the fabrics. The movement of fibers towards the lateral ends and frequent bruises after implantation reduce the demand for the species.

Twisted (“Mono Twin”)

Threads in the form of a braid or spring. Their difference is that in the hole on the side of the sharp edge of the needle there are two smooth threads without notches, twisted relative to each other. The braids gradually unravel, increasing the volume of the fabric. Russian Aptos® Nano Vitis-7 models use a safe cannula, while Korean models use a needle.

Screw (“Screw” and “Double Screw”)

The smooth fiber is twisted in a spiral onto a hollow needle from the outside, and the end is attached to the hole on the side of the sharp edge of the needle.

There are modifications with one wound thread and two. These varieties include: serrated or needle-shaped (CoG, 2d, 3d, 4d). Another name is Kogi.

Mesothreads with notches prevent migration in tissues and differ in the location of the notches. There are one-sided, two-sided and multi-directional. A cannula and a needle are used as a guide. This thread can be linear or screw type.

Buyanov Sergey Yurievich (Expert Doctor):

The doctor recommends specific types of mesothreads based on the initial condition of the skin. It is important in which direction the notches are directed to prevent the threads from moving. In some cases, it is sufficient to use material without notches. Almost every case is individual.

Reviews of mesothreads and the cost of the original procedure

They say that mesothreads help you look much younger than your age. However, on online forums you can find a lot of the most controversial reviews about thread lifting. And this is understandable. Such a procedure should be chosen strictly individually, with the hope of your own result.

As for the cost, such a lift is not cheap. In different salons and aesthetic clinics, of course, it is different, but the price of one mesothread varies from 700 to 1,500 rubles. And they require from 150 to 200, depending on the condition of the skin and specific medical recommendations. So you can easily calculate how much such rejuvenation will cost.

How does the procedure work?

Preparation

Before the procedure, you should buy and take any antiviral drug to prevent herpes. Usually a course of 3-4 days is enough.

To reduce the likelihood of developing edema, agents are prescribed to accelerate blood clotting. In some cases, indicators increase without medications (with varicose veins or taking contraceptives).

It is possible to avoid hematomas if:

  • do not take medications with acetylsalicylic acid or any painkillers;
  • Do not carry out the procedure during menstruation.

Stages

First carry out a thorough make-up removal and antiseptic treatment of the skin with alcohol-containing solutions.

Lidocaine-based cream or gel is used as local anesthesia. The drug is applied to the injection area in a thin layer under a film for half an hour, and then removed.

Patients with a low pain threshold require cannula anesthesia, when the anesthetic substance spreads through the puncture point to the entire operated area.

The material is introduced strictly subdermally deep (0.1-0.2 cm parallel to the surface or intersecting).

The depth should correspond to the boundary between the reticular and papillary layers of the dermis. When the threads are parallel, the distance between them cannot exceed 0.1 cm.

After insertion, you need to lightly press on the skin near the tip of each needle to fix the segment inside. Then the needle is removed, and the mesothread remains in the tissue.

Healing period

Complete rehabilitation takes 1-3 months.

Recovery after injections can take up to 5 days and be accompanied by unpleasant symptoms: subcutaneous depressions, tubercles, bumps, and bumps appear. Sometimes there is soreness, cyanosis and loss of sensation.

Rarely does a pulling sensation and slight tingling occur during facial wrinkles. Symptoms do not require medical intervention and disappear on their own.

Drug treatment is necessary if swelling appears in the implanted areas.

Recommendations

Swelling will resolve faster if you adhere to certain conditions after lifting with mesothreads:

  • Sleep on your back using a high pillow.
  • Apply cold compresses for a week.
  • Do not eat hot food for a month.
  • Avoid touching your face with your hands for a week.
  • Reduce facial expressions as much as possible.
  • Do not visit the sauna, bathhouse, solarium, or gym.
  • Do not sunbathe, do not overheat or become hypothermic.
  • Postpone your visit to the dentist.
  • Do not use creams against hematomas.

Buyanov Sergey Yurievich (Expert Doctor):

Recommendations for the rehabilitation period also include excluding, if possible, manifestations of active facial expressions in the first days after the procedure. This is important so that the threads do not become displaced, which reduces the cosmetic effect of the manipulation.

Precautionary measures

Implantation of threads can be performed by a trained specialist. Sterile conditions must be maintained in the treatment room. Signing the informed consent and taking a control photograph in 5 projections are necessary rules.

All these points are taken into account in medical centers or clinics. The service in the salon is often not accompanied by clear regulations, so it can lead to the development of complications.

To protect yourself from negative consequences, you need to:

  • get tested to make sure there are no contraindications;
  • carry out the procedure when you feel well;
  • one day before the procedure, do not smoke or drink alcohol;
  • stop taking anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents one week before;
  • Do not steam your face or sunbathe before a facelift;
  • contact experienced and trusted cosmetologists.

Side effects

Complications after a facelift arise due to incompetent actions of the doctor or the body’s reaction. The condition of blood vessels and the reactivity of the skin affect the rate of appearance and prevalence of hematomas.

Incorrect presentation of the material is fraught with consequences:

  • Contouring (translucency) of the thread, persistent retraction or protrusion of tissue. Unpleasant defects disappear on their own within 10-15 days. The fibers become discolored in approximately 5 days.
  • Herpes and infection at the injection site. Such consequences are the result of non-compliance with the rules of asepsis and antisepsis, as well as unsatisfactory postoperative care.
  • Damage to blood vessels and nerves, disruption of the integrity of the excretory duct or capsule of the parotid salivary gland. The use of pointed needles is unsafe when inserted deep into the dermis. There will be a minimal risk of bleeding, hematoma development and edema if implantation is carried out with a blunt cannula. Numbness of the integument due to injury to nerve trunks is rarely diagnosed.
  • Thread coming out. The situation occurs if the insertion angle is less than 45 degrees. The area is treated with an antiseptic, the fiber is cut with a sterile instrument and tucked under the skin.
  • The tip gets under the epidermis. It is fraught with traumatization of facial movements and the appearance of papules. When opening the element, a piece of thread is discovered. It is cut off and removed under the skin.
  • Fibrosis is a thickening of the connective tissue around the fibers. Occurs due to active collagen production. The side effect can be eliminated by performing a manual massage on the affected area and taking a course of corticosteroids.

Contraindications

It is worth refusing to introduce anti-aging material if the following health problems are diagnosed:

  • blood clotting disorder;
  • infectious or inflammatory processes;
  • mental disorder;
  • oncology;
  • skin diseases;
  • presence of implants in the intervention area;
  • diabetes;
  • predisposition to the formation of keloid scars;
  • damage to the skin (wounds, ulcers, burns, abrasions);
  • pathologies of the immune system;
  • autoimmune diseases;
  • taking anticoagulants.

Non-surgical lifting is not performed during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications for mesolifting

Of course, mesotherapy is a relatively new procedure. And despite the assurances of its creators about absolute harmlessness, it must be treated with reasonable caution. Not only superficially familiarize yourself with the standard list of contraindications, but also read live reviews of people who have already experienced the “cosmetic miracle of rejuvenation” on themselves.

You should carefully decide whether this operation is suitable for a particular patient. Being beautiful and young is tempting. But contraindications are contraindications. You can't just brush them aside.

Face lifting is strictly not recommended for patients with:

  1. Infectious diseases (influenza, acute respiratory infections, ARVI, etc.) in the acute stage and another 2 weeks after complete recovery.
  2. Neoplasms or inflammatory processes in areas that will be penetrated.
  3. Any cancer.
  4. Heart disease (and primarily with ischemia).
  5. Hypertension II and III degrees.
  6. Nervous and mental disorders.
  7. Biodegradable implants that were introduced earlier.
  8. Fever of any etymology.

Mesolifting is also contraindicated for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

In general, in any salon, a specialist will most likely declare that the meso-procedure is completely harmless. But you shouldn’t blindly trust words. There are indeed few therapeutic contraindications, but they still exist and cannot be neglected. In addition, in many respects the success or failure of the upcoming thread lifting operation will depend on the professionalism and experience of the cosmetologist who will undertake it. And here it is better to listen/read real reviews about a specific specialist from those who have already been in his hands.
