Hot and cold wrap - what to choose and which is better?

28 Dec 20201907

Greetings, dear readers! In this article we will talk about wrapping - an effective technique for modeling and correcting the contours of the figure. What problems does wrapping solve? The procedure helps:

  • correct body contours in problem areas;
  • improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of cellulite;
  • obtain a rejuvenation effect by activating metabolic processes;
  • cleanse pores, improve the functioning of the sebaceous glands;
  • reduce body fat;
  • strengthen muscle fibers;
  • reduce the orange peel effect.

How is the procedure performed?

Stage 1 – preparation. At the first stage, the specialist cleanses the skin using a soft scrub. Cleansing is necessary so that the skin responds better to the effects of active substances.

Stage 2 – applying the mixture. A special mixture consisting of one or more components is applied to the skin with light massaging movements.

Stage 3 – wrapping. The treated area of the body is wrapped in film and, if provided for by the technique, covered with a thermal blanket. Special conditions are created under the film under which beneficial substances act with increased efficiency. They penetrate deep into the skin and subcutaneous fat, activating metabolic processes.

Stage 4 – final . The patient lies and relaxes for 20-60 minutes, then the specialist removes the film, washes off the remaining mixture and applies a cream with a soothing effect to the skin.

In total, the procedure lasts one and a half to two hours, taking into account preparatory and finishing manipulations. Of course, one session is not enough to get a noticeable effect. Therefore, the procedures are carried out in courses; the specialist determines their duration and frequency individually for each patient.

Main contraindications

Among the main contraindications are:

  • High blood pressure . In this case, you can only carry out a cold wrap and only after consulting a doctor. Warming compounds will further increase blood pressure, which will lead to poor health.

  • Allergic reactions to components. If you bought or prepared a wrap, do a reaction test first. Apply the composition to the bend of your elbow and leave for 20 hours. If redness and irritation do not appear on the skin, you can use the composition.

  • Pregnancy. If you find out that you are expecting a baby, refuse hot wraps for cellulite. They can increase the activity of the uterus, causing bleeding and premature birth. In the first trimester, there is a high probability of developing a neural tube defect. Choose a cold wrap, preferably after consulting a doctor. .

  • Breast-feeding. Considering that after birth the child depends on the mother, components that enter the body may pass into breast milk. During lactation, only cold wraps can be done at intervals of 2 weeks.

  • Varicose veins As mentioned earlier, you should not do hot wraps for varicose veins, so as not to aggravate the problem. Choose treatments with cooling components.

  • Gynecological diseases. In this case, you should completely refrain from hot wraps. And cooling components can be applied to the body, with the exception of the abdomen and pelvis.

  • Menstruation. The woman's body is too weak and sensitive. At this time, you should completely avoid any wraps.

  • Skin diseases and damage. If there are scratches, irritations, inflammations, cuts, abrasions or rashes on the area of the skin where you are going to apply the product, refuse the procedure. You can apply the product only after the skin has recovered. Otherwise, you risk harming the circulatory and lymphatic systems.

  • Heart and kidney diseases. Hot wraps put a lot of stress on the human body. If you have heart or kidney problems, avoid such procedures. If you want to do a cold wrap, consult your doctor first. Without his consent, you risk causing irreparable harm to your body.

If after applying the composition you begin to experience tachycardia, weakness or dizziness , stop the procedure. Also, you should not exercise at the same time as the wrap. This will not speed up the process of losing weight, but will only harm your body.

What kind of wrap is there?

Hot wrap

The main features of a hot wrap are heating the mixture to body temperature and using a thermal blanket.

  • In a warm, humid environment, blood vessels dilate, blood supply increases, pores open and cleanse.
  • More nutrients and oxygen enter the cells. Tissues are freed from excess fluid and toxins.
  • Under such conditions, fat reserves and cellulite disappear much faster.

Hot wrap is not suitable for everyone; it is contraindicated for some diseases - for example, varicose veins. In such cases, patients choose a cold or combined option.

Cold wrap

The mixture is applied at room temperature, in some cases a cooling compress is additionally used. In cold conditions, blood vessels constrict, lymph outflow is observed, swelling is relieved, and the skin is tightened. After several sessions, you can notice a decrease in the signs of cellulite.

Contrast wrap

This is a combination of hot and cold wrap. The contrasting effect is ensured by alternating hot and cold compresses. Under such conditions, blood circulation and lymph flow are alternately activated - both processes are important for the fight against cellulite and excess weight.

All about cold wrap

The cooling wrap works in reverse. Cold constricts blood vessels, so that toxins and other cellular debris are distributed to the cleansing organs. The wrap also has a powerful lymphatic drainage effect, reduces swelling, smoothes cellulite and stretch marks. In addition, a body mask helps you lose weight, because the body spends a lot of calories on warming up.\

For a cooling effect, natural body wrap masks use menthol and mint, vetiver, and sandalwood. In our “Freezing anti-cellu body mask” wrap from the new anti-cellulite line, menthol is responsible for the “cold” effect.

This wrap will appeal to those who want to correct their shape, get rid of cellulite, but at the same time give their skin a rest. Unlike hot wraps, cold wraps can and even should be used for varicose veins. The body mask cools the skin, relieves tension throughout the body, soothes inflammation and reduces swelling. The cold of menthol pleasantly invigorates and improves the quality of the skin.

Magnesia removes toxins and excess fluid from the body, reduces swelling and tones the skin.

Kelp extract accelerates metabolism and promotes weight loss due to its high iodine content. Laminaria has a restorative and rejuvenating effect, as well as the ability to smooth out cellulite.

Green tea extract soothes the skin, delicately cleanses, mattifies, gives it a velvety and pleasant tone.

Menthol tightens pores, improves blood microcirculation in capillaries, reduces the visibility of vascular mesh and gives a pleasant feeling of coolness.

Sweet almond oil deeply nourishes the skin and normalizes its water balance. It contains a rich complex of vitamins C, E, PP and group B and microelements: potassium, iron, iodine, manganese, which restore and soften the skin.

Jojoba oil smoothes the skin surface, triggers cell regeneration and has an antibacterial effect.

Important: do not use the cooling wrap on damaged skin or if you are hypersensitive to the components. Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy.

Wrapping mixtures

A wide variety of components and their combinations are used for wrapping. These can be both natural products and special cosmetics. The most popular options:

  • Chocolate wrap. Chocolate cleanses and saturates the skin with vitamins, microelements and other beneficial substances. After the procedure, patients note lightening of age spots and softening of the skin. And what is important is that chocolate wrap, like no other, lifts your spirits.
  • Wrap with oils. There can be countless options here - almond, lavender, sea buckthorn, pine, wheat and many other oils are used. This procedure gives the skin a powerful flow of vitamins.
  • Seaweed wrap. In addition to the basic effect, this type of wrap has a powerful detox effect. Cells are cleansed of toxins as much as possible - this is invaluable for the skin.
  • Honey wrap. Needless to say, how beneficial honey is for health. And it doesn’t matter whether we eat it or apply it externally - it is an inexhaustible source of nutrients for the skin. Honey deeply cleanses pores, produces a tightening effect, and helps effectively fight orange peel.

Cling film for sports

To create a “sauna” effect during training, the film is used without cosmetic mixtures. It is allowed to apply a certain amount of anti-cellulite cream.

The film is wrapped around the hips or waist, and sportswear is put on top. During active physical activity, moisture will be released from the body, which will result in weight loss.

Important! The film helps create a “sauna” effect and get rid of excess fluid, but the presence of the film does not affect the fat burning process during training.

Is it possible to do body wraps at home?

Theoretically, you can organize a place for wrapping at home, buy film, and prepare the mixture. But will this “procedure” be comfortable, effective and safe? Hardly. You can invest well in purchasing all the necessary attributes, waste time and nerves - and get zero results and a spoiled mood. It is important to perform the body wrap in a good salon. We recommend doing this with us - and there are several reasons for this.

  • Salon wraps are carried out using high-quality specialized premium products with proven effectiveness from global manufacturers.
  • Only in a salon environment can the maximum effectiveness of the procedure be ensured.
  • The session is conducted by an experienced specialist who can promptly identify the presence of contraindications, if any. This will protect you from unwanted consequences.
  • We offer many different types of wraps; we select products individually for each client, taking into account the characteristics of his skin.

Varicose veins

The most common contraindication to a hot procedure is varicose veins. This is explained by the fact that the procedure of such wrapping is associated with a significant dilation of blood vessels.

In this case, damage to the vascular walls of varicose veins is possible. Such damage can lead to an inflammatory process - phlebitis.

This inflammation, in turn, leads to the formation of a blood clot that closes the lumen of the vein - thrombophlebitis. This disease will require long-term treatment or surgery.

In this case, cold procedures are more suitable, which are possible and even necessary to carry out not only for varicose veins, but also for other vascular diseases.
