The aesthetic cosmetology clinic in Moscow, Absolut Med LLC, offers skin resurfacing using the method of fractional exposure to an erbium laser. Laser resurfacing removes fine wrinkles and smoothes deeper ones, and also removes acne scars. The laser can penetrate deeply and therefore acts in a precisely targeted area. This procedure is also called deep peeling.
What are acne scars and wrinkles
Wrinkles, as we know, inevitably appear with age. The skin becomes less elastic and stretches. The process of cell renewal slows down. Aggressive exposure to the sun on the epidermis layer (photoaging) accelerates the formation of wrinkles. The use of creams does not solve this problem. The same can be said about acne scars. Moisturizing and nourishing with cosmetics does not eliminate acne scars. They represent a violation of the relief of the skin, and this defect can only be eliminated with the help of laser resurfacing.
Rehabilitation
A carefully performed operation is half the battle. It is necessary that patients also follow the instructions during the rehabilitation period. It is 4-5 days.
Immediately after the procedure:
- be under the constant supervision of relatives or doctors for a day;
- 2 days of bed rest with two pillows (so that inflammation subsides faster);
- cold compresses;
- taking medications or using external products prescribed by a cosmetologist.
Other tips:
- take a warm shower twice a day without a washcloth so that the exfoliated skin drains without mechanical impact;
- Children's shampoos are used to wash hair. If they come into contact with the skin, they do not have an aggressive effect and will not harm;
- yellowness around the eyes is normal after the procedure. You cannot try to scrub it off;
- When peeling begins on the 3-4th day, you cannot tear off pieces of skin, otherwise scars will remain. The body must cope with the process on its own.
Cetaphil moisturizers are used during and after the rehabilitation period. You can consult a dermatologist to choose a budget drug. You can use decorative cosmetics only after 7-14 days. The exact date is set by a specialist.
How is laser skin resurfacing performed?
Before the operation, we do an examination to exclude the presence of diseases such as hepatitis (B C) and HIV.
This procedure is safe and painless.
- On average, one session lasts about 30-60 minutes.
- The principle of this procedure is that the erbium beam acts on the outer layer of the skin, penetrating 1-20 microns deep.
- This rejuvenation procedure is most often performed under local anesthesia.
- Depending on the depth and area of the wrinkles, a suitable laser attachment is selected.
- The liquid from the tissue structures instantly evaporates, but does not lead to a burn, since the laser beam does not have time to penetrate into the deep layers of the epidermis (photoablation occurs). This is necessary to remove old layers of the outer cover. This process stimulates the production of collagen - a protein necessary for the body for smoothness, youth and tone of the skin. As a result, the structure of the epidermis is renewed and rejuvenation occurs.
- The recovery process usually takes 5-7 days.
Advantages and disadvantages
Erbium laser in cosmetology (reviews from doctors prove this fact) acts very carefully.
Its advantages:
- impact only on the selected area. The laser diameter is 2 microns, which allows it not to affect adjacent healthy tissues;
- shallow penetration of 5 microns contributes to superficial renewal, but the launch of a person’s own regenerative properties;
- almost no contraindications;
- easy tolerability. Only some particularly sensitive patients are given local anesthesia;
- the effect is on the upper tissues, which do not have nerve endings. Therefore, you can work with thin skin, including the area around the eyes.
The procedure has only one drawback. Like any intervention in the stable functioning of the body, the laser can cause complications. In 1% of 100 it is impossible to predict them.
Advantages of laser resurfacing:
- This procedure is suitable for any age
- Does not pose a risk of infection
- Effectively rejuvenates the skin and improves its structure
- Leads to smaller pores
- Skin heals quickly after laser resurfacing
- No thermal damage
- No transition boundaries are visible on any part of the skin
- Erbium laser can eliminate previous cosmetic imperfections
- Removes dangerous epidermal cells
- Affordable price
- Suitable for men and women
Which laser rejuvenation method is better?
The doctor decides which laser rejuvenation method is right for you during a consultation. We must remember that everything is individual! There is no method that will suit everyone. Plus there are a number of nuances and limitations. In any case, CO2 and erbium lasers are two excellent options for rejuvenation.
CO2 laser is a deep impact with a long rehabilitation period. But the erbium laser acts more superficially. Therefore, therapy is carried out at a depth of only 1 micron, which allows the cosmetologist to vaporize a thin layer without exposing the main part of the skin to thermal damage. Because of this, the erbium laser is called “cold”.
Some cosmetologists are confident that the collagen damaged by the CO2 laser, which precisely contributes to the rejuvenating effect, shows results after the second procedure.
The main disadvantage of the CO2 laser is gross damage. When it comes to protecting your skin from serious blemishes during treatment, there is nothing better than resurfacing.
It has been proven that exposure to the skin with an erbium laser can reduce the period of epithelization, and complications practically do not arise.
It is important for clients of beauty clinics to remain beautiful, so CO2 clearly loses when it comes to rejuvenation. It cannot be as gentle as an erbium laser.

When is the effect visible?
Erbium laser in cosmetology, reviews of which can mislead patients, is aimed at stimulating the natural processes of the body. Its impact is minimal. It tricks the body into thinking that skin cells are being damaged. Therefore, it begins to renew them faster and restore damaged tissue.
Since the body needs time to start recovery processes, it will take 3-4 days after the procedure before the patient notices the effect. First, the skin becomes covered with a hard film, and a burning and itching sensation appears. But you need to be patient and not try to get rid of the crust mechanically.
You can use products that help the body regenerate new cells. These are restorative creams based on Vaseline. They soften the crust and promote its faster removal.
The peeling process itself is accompanied by itching. When all the dead cells fall off, it will stop. After complete exfoliation, you should stop using Vaseline-based creams to prevent your skin from becoming too oily and your pores from becoming clogged. Regardless of how many procedures are prescribed, the effect is visible after the first one. It improves with each new operation.
Facial skin care after laser resurfacing
During rehabilitation, you will need to apply ointments such as equator or Vaseline every day. This helps the skin recover quickly. It must be remembered that the period of complete recovery depends on the depth of penetration of the laser beam and on the individual characteristics of the body.
Since after the procedure the skin receives a slight burn, so you need to wait until it heals. At this time, you should avoid scratching the skin and removing scabs yourself.
Who are laser sessions indicated for?
Laser cosmetology sessions are used in the following cases:
- the presence of shallow wrinkles;
- loose skin. Such changes always come with age (they affect not only the face, but also the neck and décolleté);
- skin stretch marks (appear with rapid weight loss);
- an area where there used to be pimples, but now they have turned into scars;
- birthmarks or age spots;
- small and shallow tattoos;
- fat deposits in different areas (mainly under the eyelids, since other means cannot get rid of them).
The duration of each procedure is assigned separately after research and determination of the individual characteristics of the skin. It takes 30-90 minutes. The number of procedures is also determined by the properties of the epidermis and the complexity of the problem areas.
The difference between the True Fractional Sellas® 1550 laser and Fraxel:
- Sellas® 1550 procedures are virtually painless
- There is no need to apply marker paint, therefore, the preparation time for the procedure is reduced
- Due to deeper penetration of radiation into the skin, the efficiency of the Sellas® 1550 laser is higher, so fewer treatments are required
- Sellas® 1550 is the only fractional laser that operates in two modes: “Scanner” and “Stamp”
- High laser precision minimizes the risk of complications
- A variety of operating modes ensures an individual approach
Service cost
Erbium laser in cosmetology (reviews depend on the qualifications of the specialist who performed the procedure) is not an expensive procedure.
The final cost is formed based on the following parameters:
- grinding level;
- total number of procedures;
- general anesthesia or local anesthesia;
- neglect of the problem;
- the age of the patient (the older, the more difficult it is to start natural recovery);
- the policy of the clinic where the procedure is performed.
Average prices can be found in the table:
Procedure | Price |
Facial rejuvenation | From 7000 rub. |
Rejuvenation of the neck and décolleté area | From 15,000 rub. |
Superficial face resurfacing | From 20,000 rub. |
Medium face resurfacing | From 25,000 rub. |

Expected reactions:
- Mild hyperemia after the procedure is a normal reaction that usually resolves within 1-3 days.
- A burning sensation is also a consequence of the procedure and can persist for 2-3 hours after treatment and goes away on its own. To reduce this effect, it is recommended to cool the skin using gel masks and a cold compress.
- Slight swelling of the skin and underlying tissue is a normal skin reaction to exposure to the Sellas fractional laser; it develops immediately after the procedure and reaches its maximum after about a day, especially in the eyelid area. The swelling subsides on its own within 2-3 days and does not require treatment.
- Hyperpigmentation as a complication is possible if recommendations for the use of photoprotective agents are not followed.
Expected results after a course of treatment with True Fractional Sellas® 1550 laser
- Treatment for the purpose of “rejuvenation”: on any area of the skin, including eyelids, neck, hands: skin color and texture improves – wrinkles and fine lines disappear – enlarged pores are reduced – facial contours are lifted
- Treatment of cosmetic defects after acne (post-acne): –– skin color is evened out –– “scars” are smoothed out –– pores are reduced in size
- Treatment of stretch marks (striae): – skin texture is evened out
- Treatment of scars after surgery, burns, injuries: –– scars become less noticeable
- Treatment of age spots: –– skin color is restored
Reviews about the procedure
Many say that the use of an erbium laser in cosmetology can be considered a major breakthrough in science. Reviews about the procedure are positive. But some say that you should carefully select the clinic where the operation will be performed.
When a specialist approaches patients irresponsibly and does not conduct in-depth analysis and diagnostics to identify possible contraindications, there is a high probability of complications occurring.

Features of the new generation True Fractional Sellas® 1550 fractional laser system:
- Laser resurfacing (elimination of fine wrinkles and smoothing out deep wrinkles, skin lifting, restoration of skin structure) on the face, neck, hands, any part of the body
- Treatment of pigmentation disorders (melasma, solar and senile lentigo)
- Elimination of enlarged pores
- Elimination of post-acne scars and other atrophic scars
- Correction of post-operative scars
- Treatment of stretch marks
Fractional resurfacing allows you to destroy the “old” skin in small “pillars”. These are the so-called “microthermolysis zones” (MTZ). Their thickness is comparable to a human hair. Around the MTZ zones there remain intact zones containing a large number of intact cells. Next, the process of active healing begins at the site of MTZ. Fragments of old skin are evacuated. The synthesis of new young cells is stimulated. After a course of treatment, the skin is renewed and becomes more attractive.
