What is facial electroporation - an alternative to invasive cosmetology or its weak semblance?

If you need to rejuvenate the skin of your face and body, the beauty industry can provide you with this opportunity. Nowadays no one is surprised to hear about beauty injections or a facelift. Please note that injections of various substances that affect the condition of the skin are not allowed for everyone, as they have contraindications. In this regard, it is better to turn to hardware methods of rejuvenation, because they do not damage the skin.

Electroporation

Beauty injections have a pretty good analogue - electroporation. The procedure is ideal for people who are afraid of pain or complications that may occur with other techniques. Mesotherapy without injections improves appearance and is also used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes.

This procedure is analogous to “beauty injections”

The essence of the technique

Electroporation is a variant of mesotherapy, carried out using special devices, without any injections. In this case, the needle is replaced by an electric current. The inventors of the method are Roderick MacKinnon and Peter Egre, who were awarded the Nobel Prize.

Electroporation is a kind of mesotherapy, but without needles

As you know, over time, the supply of substances necessary for cell life decreases, and they are not able to get to the cell for various reasons - the molecular weight of the substances is quite large, and the ion channels are not large enough.

Thanks to the research of these two scientists, the patterns of interactions between the cell and the environment became clear. The cell membrane selectively allows various substances to pass through, designed to ensure the functioning of the cell and protection from external influences.

Research by two scientists has revealed information about the interaction between cells and the environment around them

Microscopic currents “open” ion channels during the procedure. Special transport proteins located in these channels interact with the injected substances, moving them deeper into the skin.

Important ! At the end of the action, the channels close and the substances begin to “work.”

Current helps transport essential substances

Pros of the procedure.

  1. Reaching the deep layers of the skin without injections - the painless influence of the current allows the penetration of active substances.
  2. There is no need to recover for a long time - the results are noticeable immediately after the event, and the skin itself remains intact, without any changes.
  3. There are no restrictions on the time of year - you can do electroporation even in summer.

This procedure has its advantages

Mechanism of action of the electroporation procedure

Many experts call electroporation non-injection mesotherapy. This procedure involves the technology of introducing transdermal products in small doses. Due to the introduction through current, a deposition effect is achieved, which ensures long-term preservation of the results. The technology maximizes cell permeability, due to which special substances penetrate deep, and specially directed electrical waves cause changes in the cell membrane, which leads to a short-term opening of cell microchannels and makes it possible for drugs to safely penetrate inside. Membrane channels mediate the transport of water and ions across biological membranes. Thus, the drug acts on cells and destroys fat cells.

What should you expect from the procedure?

The overall condition of the skin improves as a result of the procedure, as deep hydration of its tissues is achieved. Therefore, people suffering from excessive dry skin should pay special attention to this effect. But electroporation can achieve other effects:

  • facial skin is refreshed and smoothed;
  • facial wrinkles are smoothed out, deep wrinkles are also erased a little;
  • skin color becomes healthy;
  • skin turgor improves;
  • the problem of acne is solved;

    Acne goes away thanks to this effect

  • pores narrow;
  • scars left after acne disappear;
  • the skin ceases to be flabby, becoming firm and elastic;
  • hair loss is corrected;

    Hair grows better after electroporation

  • the skin returns to normal after procedures using injections;
  • the water balance of the skin reaches normal levels;
  • age spots disappear;
  • rosacea is eliminated.

Couperose can be eliminated with electric shock

This procedure will remove various toxins from the skin if you use the tripeptide glutathione.

Important ! To bring the skin texture back to normal and regulate the activity of the sebaceous glands, use glycolic acid.

Some nuances

Based on the fact that the procedure does not require injections, electroporation is a non-injection method of rejuvenation. It follows from this that the client will not suffer from swelling and bruises, infectious agents will not get under the skin, and it will not become inflamed. The impact does not cause any pain and does not require further rehabilitation.

You can carry out the procedure at home; you don’t need any special skills for this. Just discussing this possibility with a cosmetologist is enough.

Mandatory consultation with a specialist is required

The effect will be visible immediately after electroporation is completed. The optimal course includes about ten procedures, one per week. For lip skin, four procedures are enough to eliminate dryness and flaking. One exposure lasts half an hour.

Important ! Before manipulation, it is recommended to perform peeling using ultrasound. Modern equipment is usually produced with such an attachment.

Peeling before the procedure is required

Progress of electroporation

There are only three stages.

First, electroporation (or non-injection mesotherapy) is performed. Small portions of active elements, special compositions for mesotherapy, and large molecular compounds such as collagen and hyaluronate are locally injected into the middle layer of the skin.

This is now a frequently used method of introducing active agents transdermally into the deeper layers of the skin. The procedure is carried out using a special nozzle to which a bottle of the desired substance is attached. When the skin is treated, you can feel its saturation with useful substances due to the action of a special electric syringe without a needle.

The attachment also has a special function called “red light”, which provides additional therapy. The effect of light on the skin allows you to reach the deep layers of the skin, affecting their absorption of beneficial elements. Subcutaneous processes become more active, muscle tension increases.

Important ! Inflammation processes are also weakened, the effects of damage are corrected, and collagen is actively produced. Thanks to this, wrinkles and age spots disappear.

It is possible for a doctor to use “red light”

At the second stage, the skin is treated with ultrasound. It is advisable to carry out such a procedure in order to activate metabolism and improve the absorption of active elements by cells.

Since ultrasound affects metabolic processes, you can feel the following effects: tissues warm up, damage is eliminated, local skin inflammation is corrected. Elastin and collagen are actively produced, intracellular proteins are synthesized, and the immune system performs its functions better.

The second stage is ultrasonic treatment

Cold function . This is the final stage of electroporation, which allows you to get rid of redness and irritation of the skin, tone it, “seal” the introduced active substances and prevent them from being removed from the cells earlier than expected. Using the cold nozzle, you can carry out therapy thanks to the blue light option.

Important ! This function allows you to soothe and disinfect the skin. An excellent effect is achieved in the fight against acne, since light affects the bacteria that cause them. Free oxygen appears in the bacterial cell, injuring it and subsequently killing it.

Cold is the last stage

Types of non-injection mesotherapy

Mesotherapy without punctures is a procedure suitable not only for facial rejuvenation, but also for improving body contours, as well as increasing hair thickness and elasticity.

For this purpose, devices are used that differ in the principle of operation - in how exactly they deliver meso-cocktails under the skin.

  • Oxygen mesotherapy.
    In this case, the skin is treated with oxygen in its pure form, and the medicinal composition penetrates inside under its pressure - the injection method is used.
  • Cryomesotherapy.
    To obtain the desired effect, the skin is exposed to cold and electric waves - they not only increase cell permeability, but also complement the effect of the drugs, strengthening the walls of blood vessels, as well as tightening tissue.
  • Iontophoresis.
    This procedure is carried out using galvanic current.
  • Laser mesotherapy.
    The conductor for the mesococktail is laser radiation, which enhances its effect.
  • Ultrasonic.
    Therapeutic compounds penetrate into the deep layers of the skin using ultrasonic vibrations, which also enhance their effect.
  • Electroporation (hydromesotherapy).
    During this procedure, the beneficial ingredients of meso-cocktails penetrate into tissues under the influence of electromagnetic radiation. These impulses greatly increase cell permeability, so even large molecules (for example, hyaluronic acid) can enter the dermis.
  • Aquaphoresis.
    This technique combines the principles of electrical and laser stimulation, as well as lymphatic drainage. It enhances metabolic processes, normalizes the outflow of fluid and helps get rid of swelling. As a result, the skin becomes more hydrated and elastic.
  • Mesotherapy with magnetophoresis.
    Here, the transporting function for active substances is performed by magnetic waves.

The main advantage of hardware methods is their painlessness and minimal recovery period.

Electroporation technique

The skin is cleaned of impurities, after which it is recommended to perform peeling using ultrasound just before electroporation.

Option one: the specialist draws about ten milliliters of the required drug into a syringe and inserts it into the handpiece of the device for the procedure. The handpiece contains a microscopic mesh, which is supplied with current at a frequency specified by the program. The cosmetologist treats the required area of the body with a handpiece in strokes or in a circle without detaching from the skin. Over time, the strength of the current increases. In the case when a person notices tingling or vibration in the treated area, the current power no longer increases. During the procedure, pulses and vibrations of electric current are used. The pulses allow the drugs to penetrate deep into the cells, and the vibrations activate the necessary receptors, resulting in improved blood supply, tissue restoration, and cell activity.

Important ! For example, fibroblasts begin active collagen synthesis.

The drug can be drawn into a syringe

Option two: in this case, electroporation is carried out without a syringe. They take a capsule with the active substance, on top there is a rotating roller, which, due to its movements, delivers the desired drug or serum for the procedure.

The face is manipulated for half an hour, the neck and décolleté for about twenty minutes. It is necessary to carry out at least eight procedures, which are done every week. On average, up to twelve manipulations are recommended.

Important ! To maintain the effect, electroporation is carried out once every couple of months. Thanks to the action of the drugs, you can notice the improvement of the skin, while wrinkles are erased, and the skin itself thickens.

The procedure can be carried out using a roller on the capsule

Advantages, disadvantages and possible complications

Electroporation appeared not so long ago, which is why it is now less common than types of mesotherapy that involve invasive penetration of a needle into the skin structure.

Let's consider the positive aspects of the technique:

  • Safety. Safe, non-toxic compounds are used for it;
  • Preserving skin integrity. Due to this, there are practically no side effects or consequences after the session;
  • Awakening natural processes in the skin;
  • Cumulative effect;
  • Long-term retention of results (up to a year);
  • Painless;
  • Elimination of many problems and rejuvenation of the skin.

Among the disadvantages of the technology, one can note the rather high price and the need to undergo a course of sessions to obtain the desired result. Most often, a girl has to undergo up to 10-15 visits to cosmetology.

As a rule, there are no consequences after electroporation, the only thing is that sensitive skin may react to electromagnetic pulses. It manifests itself in the form of redness and slight swelling, and goes away after 1-3 days, without causing discomfort to the girl.

Negative consequences can only arise if contraindications for health reasons are not observed, as well as an allergic reaction to the meso-cocktail used.

What drugs are used?

It is impossible to imagine this manipulation without special drugs. It must be said that the usual creams, gels, and ointments are unsuitable for the procedure because they are too dense. And only water-soluble substances can reach deep areas of the skin.

Important ! A variety of means of influence are used. The cosmetologist chooses the appropriate one, based on the specific characteristics of his client’s body, the health of his skin, and the reasons why he decided to take this event in the first place.

Different means can be used

Sometimes they use products suitable for injections. However, in most cases, specialists choose the following active substances for electroporation.

SubstancePurpose
Hyaluronic acidTo moisturize, increase elasticity, smooth out small wrinkles.
DMAE complexDesigned to normalize the water balance of the skin. It becomes elastic and elastic, receives many useful elements. Since the skin receives all the necessary substances, its aging and fading are significantly slowed down.
Silicon of organic originIt tones the skin and stimulates collagen production. Free radicals are removed from the body, which allows you to lose weight and get rid of cellulite. This substance is in many cases used to treat problem areas.
Glutathione TripeptideThe name may not inspire confidence, but it is actually quite a useful element. The skin becomes healthy, harmful substances are eliminated naturally.

All products for electroporation are administered in combination with vitamins and natural ingredients that have a positive effect on the skin.

Devices for manipulations

A variety of devices are used for this procedure.

  1. Mesoderma. It was developed in Italy. It is used to administer a variety of drugs. The molecular weight and charge of the ion does not affect the operation of the device. Firm-.

    Mesoderma

  2. Infusion. Ideal for electroporation using hyaluronate. It is produced in Israel (). This is a fairly popular device in the field of beauty and rejuvenation. It is used in countries around the world. No preliminary preparation of the skin is required.

    Infusion

  3. META-TDS. Designed in Korea. Cosmetologists love this device for its long operating time and ease of use. It is rightfully considered the most effective in comparison with other devices. Purpose – rejuvenation and saturation of the skin with water.

META-TDS

The Italian Mesoderm apparatus has a special attachment for the procedure. To supply the skin with hyaluronate, use “Infusion”. If you need a complex of two procedures in the field of cosmetology (electroporation + radio frequency lifting), you can use the NV-CR-200 device. And the NV-E6 combine allows you to act on the skin in six different ways.

Important ! To carry out this procedure at home, purchase Gezaton devices.

Each device is good in its own way

Pros of manipulation

Electroporation is a good analogue of youth injections, since it has many strengths:

  • the procedure does not cause pain;
  • the skin is not damaged: there is no swelling, redness, burns, blisters;
  • the procedure is easy to carry out and widely available;
  • no need to recover for a long time after exposure;
  • the results are encouraging.

The procedure has many advantages

Combination with other procedures

Usually this procedure is carried out in combination with others, for example:

  • lymphatic drainage;
  • myostimulation;
  • laser therapy.

Electroporation is combined with many procedures

Together with the effect of laser therapy, electroporation rejuvenates the skin and stimulates collagen production. When the epidermis is regenerated, the skin is naturally rejuvenated and restored, as a result of which its overall condition improves.

Together with myostimulation, this procedure allows you to achieve soft tissue lifting that will last for a long time. In addition, you can saturate the skin with essential microelements and improve its condition.

And if you perform lymphatic drainage together with electroporation, you can forget about cellulite for a long time.

Depending on the problem, a suitable complex is selected

Popular questions

Can the procedure be performed at any time of the year?

There are no restrictions regarding the time of electroporation. Of course, some activities are unacceptable in the summer, but this does not apply to the procedure we are considering. The main thing to remember is that after the manipulation, the skin must be protected from sunlight for several days. All you need to do is apply sunscreen before you leave the house.

The procedure is carried out at any time of the year

Is it possible to perform electroporation on tattooed skin?

Cosmetologists generally do not attach importance to tattoos on the treated areas. It is only necessary that the place where the tattoo was applied heals completely. Exposure to electric current has no effect on the paint.

Is this procedure safe?

Cosmetologists claim that side effects are quite atypical for electroporation. It is only important to take into account contraindications and ensure complete care of the skin after the event. The person may suffer from the appearance of age spots. This is the result of errors in further skin care (if you ignore the use of sun protection creams) or individual intolerance. After some time, the skin will return to normal.

You need to monitor your skin condition

What effect does electroporation have?

Electroporation at home gives a similar effect to the salon. Regular procedure significantly improves the quality of the skin, restores its hydro-lipid balance, restores elasticity and radiance. Electroporation is an ideal option for caring for dry, aging, dehydrated skin. But this is not a complete list of the advantages of this procedure:

  • Electroporation treats acne and eliminates post-acne.
  • Restores skin after traumatic procedures - for example, biorevitalization.
  • Eliminates age spots and evens out complexion.
  • Smoothes expression wrinkles and reduces the severity of deep creases in the skin.
  • Restores hydrobalance and promotes long-term skin hydration.
  • Returns elasticity and firmness to the skin.
  • Helps strengthen blood vessels and fights rosacea.
  • Used on the body - for example, to combat cellulite.
  • Tightens the skin, eliminates sagging and ptosis.

What is the price of the procedure?

All representatives of the fair sex want to look as good and young as possible. After reading this article, you are probably interested in this anti-aging effect on the skin. However, of course, the money question is also of interest. How much does electroporation cost?

Important ! In general, the procedure is quite inexpensive, which only increases its popularity. The price depends on the problem area that will be exposed.

The procedure is not too expensive

If you want to correct problems on your face, the price will be around six hundred rubles per session. Please note that the drug used is not included in the quoted price.

Often beauty centers offer discounts and promotions, so in many cases you can save money. The main thing is to follow the news of cosmetology clinics.

Important ! Electroporation is a kind of physical therapy. The procedure must be carried out by a highly qualified specialist with sufficient experience in this field.

Do not forget that you have the right to demand from the cosmetologist a document that allows him to carry out this procedure. Take your health seriously!

You need to make sure that the doctor is a specialist in his field

How to carry out the procedure at home?

If previously electroporation was only available in salons, now you can do it just as effectively at home. To do this, you will need only one comprehensive care device with an electroporation function and 10 minutes of free time. It’s much more profitable, faster, and most importantly more reliable than in a salon:

  • The price of one procedure in the salon is about 700 UAH. You will need a course of 10 procedures, 3 times a week. In total, it will cost you about 7,000 thousand UAH excluding the road. Of course, you will spend a lot of time getting to the salon and undergoing the procedure with a cosmetologist. You can do electroporation at home at any time convenient for you.
  • Almost all devices with electroporation function are portable and lightweight. You will not need to interrupt the course of procedures: you will be able to take your favorite gadget on any trip or travel.
  • With a home complex device, you get the opportunity not only to perform electroporation, but also other rejuvenating procedures: microcurrents and myostimulation, RF lifting, iontophoresis, light therapy.

We recommend:

LL Nano Skin

The multifunctional Japanese device for face lifting and functional intensive rejuvenation is a complete innovative care system consisting of 6 anti-aging technologies that are combined into more than 20 care programs.

LL Nano Skin Tender

“Little brother” Nano Skin. Combines a complex of skincare and lifting procedures: RF lifting, EMS (myostimulation), ION (iontophoresis), ENI (electroporation), COOL lifting, LED therapy.

How is this rejuvenation procedure different from others?

Mesotherapy is the effect of various drugs (both medicinal and therapeutic-cosmetic or cosmetic) on a pathological focus, so that the necessary part of the body can be treated in order to correct existing deficiencies. This is an invasive effect. And electroporation does not imply radical intervention and damage to the skin. Thanks to this, it is easy for people to endure the procedure, and there is no risk of introducing infectious agents. There is more variety in the products introduced here, therefore, the procedure can correct a large number of problems - both purely external and dermatological. If with classical mesotherapy no one can guarantee that beneficial substances will reach the cells, electroporation provides such an opportunity. In addition to the depth of penetration, you can also control the volume of substances supplied.

Electroporation is different from many other procedures

Important ! If we compare electroporation with electrophoresis, during the latter low-molecular substances are introduced. The procedure we are considering involves the use of high molecular weight agents, and the penetration of substances into the right places will occur more quickly.

The essence of the method and principle of operation

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves repeated puncture of the skin to introduce beneficial substances into it. However, relatively recently, an improved type of technology has appeared that has the same effectiveness, but less pain. Let's figure it out, facial electroporation - what is it?

Electroporation is a method of subcutaneous administration of useful compounds without additional disruption of tissue integrity. The drug penetrates them thanks to electromagnetic pulses, which have a gentle effect on the sensitive surface.

Why is electroporation better than beauty injections?

The electroporation procedure has a number of advantages over injection rejuvenation techniques:

  • No pain: current of low frequency and strength does not cause any discomfort.
  • There are no punctures or papules: after the procedure, the skin is smooth, smooth, without injuries from manipulation with the needle.
  • There is no rehabilitation period at all.
  • Mesococktail, serum and other drugs are introduced into the dermis quickly, effectively and without consequences.
  • The effect is comparable to injection rejuvenation.
  • Price: electroporation is several times cheaper than a course of biorevitalization. If you have a home comprehensive care device with an electroporation function, you can do the procedure anytime and anywhere.
  • Electroporation can be done at any time of the year.
  • Minimum list of contraindications.

Reviews

People who have tried electroporation have varying opinions about the procedure. Some people like it, some don't. However, most clients still respond positively.

Maria, Rostov-on-Don

“Alas, I experienced all the “delights” of skin aging. My skin became slack and wrinkled. I didn’t like the reflection in the mirror at all, so I decided to deal with this problem. At first I took injections, but my body did not respond very well to them. In addition, it was very unpleasant for me, sometimes even painful, and I didn’t want to endure it anymore.

Once in cosmetology I was offered electroporation. After carefully reading the information about this procedure, I decided to carry it out because I really liked the before and after photos of the clients. I’ll say right away that the main advantage is the absence of pain. It is very important for me!

Already after the first procedure I noticed changes. The skin smoothed out and tightened. If you don't like injections either, be sure to try this procedure! I’m glad I found out about her at all!”

People respond positively to the procedure

Svetlana, Samara

“Aging, to be honest, really scares me. I regularly visit a cosmetologist and take good care of my skin, but I was worried about skin pigmentation and wrinkles. Alas, even strong creams are not able to globally solve such problems. We have to turn to cosmetological methods. I was advised to undergo electroporation because this method is effective, painless, and the cost of the procedure is not very expensive. For me all these points are very important.

After five sessions I can say that pigmentation has stopped bothering me. Wrinkles are no longer so noticeable, even the deepest ones. I am very pleased with this result! Of course, I had to spend money, but it's worth it. It’s better to do electroporation courses once a year and constantly enjoy your appearance than to spend money on tons of cosmetics, the effect of which is usually very weak.”

Elena, Kaliningrad

“I have been unhappy with my skin for five years. I used many products, but did not notice a good effect. That's why I decided to go into cosmetology. I thought I would have to endure the pain from the injections, but fortunately it turned out okay. I was advised electroporation. I did 12 procedures, I’m delighted with the results! The skin is almost like it was in youth, I forgot about wrinkles. I recommend it to anyone who is afraid of injections, but really wants to rejuvenate!”

Ekaterina, Vladimir

“I don’t yet suffer from visible signs of aging - probably because from an early age I have been using moisturizers and making all sorts of masks. I am well versed in a huge variety of different cosmetic procedures, and I also know what processes in the body provoke aging. Therefore, I believe that electroporation is the best method for getting rid of wrinkles, pigmentation and other skin problems. I decided to undergo several procedures to prevent age-related changes in the skin of the face, because sooner or later they will begin to appear. I want to delay this moment. Of course, I couldn’t notice any significant changes after the procedure, which is understandable, but overall the condition of my skin seems to have improved. This is good news. I think once every year or two you can undergo a course of electroporation - it will only be beneficial.”

Photorejuvenation: irradiation for good

In the arsenal of modern cosmetology, there are effective and safe methods that easily eliminate age-related skin defects - electroporation and facial photorejuvenation.

Photorejuvenation is a hardware method that is based on irradiating the skin with light beams of a certain intensity. A special cosmetology device creates a light beam of a certain frequency, which treats a certain area of the skin. To achieve this or that effect, the specialist determines what length the wave radiation will be.

To understand how the method works, you need to know what sunlight consists of. So, sunlight consists of:

  • infrared rays;
  • ultraviolet rays;
  • X-rays;
  • visible spectrum radiation;
  • gamma rays (which do not reach the Earth's surface and are absorbed by the ozone layer).

The most dangerous and destructive are ultraviolet rays, which consist of ultraviolet type A and type B. They cause premature aging of the skin, damage DNA, cause cell mutation, thereby increasing the risk of developing skin cancer.

Photorejuvenation uses broadband intense pulsed light (IPL), which is devoid of the harmful UV spectrum. In other words, we can say that broadband intense pulsed light (IPL) is creative and healing light. IPL light is a stream of quanta or photons (the particles that make up sunlight) that travels in separate beams.

The photorejuvenation method is based on the fact that broadband high-intensity pulsed light can selectively influence substances that are part of human tissue. These substances are called chromophores. They are able to absorb light, heating the tissue to the required temperature.

Substances such as hemoglobin and melanin, which dominate chromophoric tissues, are capable of absorbing light of a certain length. By modifying the light length in the specified region of the spectrum, it is possible to influence the nature of light absorption by body tissues. In addition, useful light, penetrating the skin, does not damage its surface layers.

Do not confuse IPL light therapy with laser treatment. These are two different methods. The basic difference between IPL light therapy and laser therapy is:

  • the ability to adjust the depth of light diffusion in a wide range of the spectrum;
  • skillfully modify the flash energy, number of pulses, duration and intervals of each pulse;
  • rationalize and control the treatment process depending on the task and the individual characteristics of each patient.

Broadband intense pulsed light is the basis of another cosmetic procedure - photoepilation. Young follicles, which do not yet contain melanin, absorb light and are destroyed under the influence of intense pulsed light.

How is the photorejuvenation procedure performed?

The procedure is performed by an experienced specialist in an aesthetic clinic or medical office.

The procedure begins with cleansing the skin. Then a special gel is applied to the area to be treated to protect the skin from overheating. The patient wears glasses to protect his eyes from flashes of light. Special filters on the device conduct light to the tip, which is used to treat every centimeter of skin. It is important to ensure that the light beam does not hit your hair or eyebrows, as they will instantly become discolored.

This method is completely painless, it does not cause discomfort or other unpleasant sensations, except for warmth and slight tingling. The skin is not traumatized and its integrity is not compromised. Light minor redness does not spoil the appearance, does not interfere with work activity and does not interfere with the usual way of life.

Immediately after a phototherapy session, you can use decorative cosmetics. The duration of the session depends on the condition of the skin and the problems that need to be solved. On average, a session lasts a minimum of 15-25 minutes, a maximum of 45 minutes. After the procedure is completed, a cooling and soothing cream is applied to the skin.

As a rule, the result is noticeable immediately after the first session, but to enhance the effect, it is necessary to carry out a full course of photorejuvenation, which is 5-8 sessions, with an interval of two weeks.

What can be improved with photorejuvenation?

After a course of photorejuvenation, the following improvements occur:

  • melanin, which is contained in pigment spots, is destroyed;
  • fibroblasts are activated, which promote the synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid;
  • old amorphous collagen and elastin are replaced with new healthy fibers;
  • turgor, elasticity and complexion improve;
  • there is a narrowing of large capillaries and the disappearance of small ones;
  • eliminates acne and acne.

So, the photorejuvenation procedure effectively eliminates the above-mentioned skin defects. However, this procedure can give an even better effect in combination with other cosmetic procedures.

What cannot be corrected with photorejuvenation?

Above we talked about what can be improved with phototherapy, but how universal is this method? What cannot be improved with photorejuvenation?

So, photorejuvenation cannot:

  • carry out lifting of soft tissues;
  • cope with gravitational ptosis of the face;
  • regain lost volumes;
  • eliminate deep nasolabial folds;
  • eliminate nasolacrimal groove and jowls.

During the photorejuvenation procedure, the paraorbital area is not treated, as this can cause a retinal burn. Therefore, clients wear safety glasses before the procedure. If you want to improve the condition of the skin in these areas, you should resort to other cosmetic procedures.

Benefits of photorejuvenation

This procedure has a number of significant advantages:

  • painlessness of the method;
  • non-invasive intervention without violating the integrity of the skin;
  • no side effects or complications;
  • no rehabilitation period, patients immediately return to their normal rhythm of life;
  • prolonged effect, the method has a cumulative effect;
  • simultaneous elimination of various skin defects.

Indications for the procedure

Phototherapy is recommended for the following skin defects:

  • the first symptoms of age-related skin aging;
  • the presence of pigment spots;
  • sallow, dull complexion;
  • proliferation of vascular networks;
  • dryness and dehydration of the face;
  • acne skin disease;
  • expression wrinkles;
  • oily skin and enlarged pores.

Contraindications to the procedure

The facial photorejuvenation procedure has a number of serious contraindications:

  • autoimmune and oncological diseases;
  • acute and infectious diseases in the acute stage;
  • diseases of the hematopoietic organs,
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • hypertension;
  • presence of a pacemaker in the body;
  • presence of metal prostheses;
  • diabetes;
  • hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism;
  • eye diseases: glaucoma and cataracts.

What procedures can photorejuvenation be combined with?

Photorejuvenation is effectively combined with the following cosmetic procedures:

  • contour plastic surgery;
  • Botox injections;
  • chemical peeling;
  • electroporation;
  • plastic surgery.

It is advisable to carry out contour plastic surgery using fillers 1-2 months after the photorejuvenation procedure. However, patients do not always want such a long wait. Some clients prefer everything at once, but the cosmetologist’s task is to correctly explain the risks of the photorejuvenation procedure if carried out immediately after contouring.

If these two procedures are carried out sequentially, then rapid biodegradation of fillers based on hyaluronic acid, elastin or collagen is possible under the influence of light energy from flashes. In cases where contouring was performed with a break of one or more months, light exposure will not affect the duration of the effect.

Simultaneous implementation of Botox and photorejuvenation procedures on the same anatomical site is unacceptable. First, you need to carry out a photorejuvenation procedure, and only then can you conduct a course of Botox therapy. In this case, the question of possible biodegradation of Botox due to exposure to light energy from flashes also arises.

When carrying out chemical peeling and rejuvenation procedures, it is necessary to take into account the depth of the peeling. Peeling is recommended to be carried out after a course of photorejuvenation for its effectiveness. Simultaneous peeling and phototherapy is strictly prohibited. The same applies to light and medium peels; they are carried out only after a course of phototherapy and complete restoration of the skin.

The procedure of electroporation and photorejuvenation eliminates a number of serious cosmetic defects, but not all. In this case, we are talking about eliminating such a defect as gravitational ptosis of soft tissues. Therefore, when choosing between photorejuvenation or plastic surgery, you should know that each procedure has its own goals and solves its own problems.

In other words, plastic surgery eliminates those skin imperfections that the photorejuvenation method cannot cope with. With a reasonable combination of plastic surgery and phototherapy, you can get excellent, and most importantly, long-lasting results. It is advisable to first carry out a basic course of photorejuvenation, which consists of three procedures, then undergo plastic surgery, and then after a certain time repeat the course of photorejuvenation again to consolidate the result.

Post-procedure skin care

The photorejuvenation procedure has virtually no side effects or complications. Also, after a phototherapy session there is no need for a rehabilitation period. However, in order for the effect of the procedures to last for a long time, you should follow a few simple rules:

  • after phototherapy sessions, redness of the skin appears, for this reason various thermal effects on the skin should be avoided;
  • You should regularly (even in cloudy weather) use sunscreen with a high protection factor;
  • you cannot visit a sauna, bathhouse, or take hot baths; after phototherapy, the skin has already been exposed to high temperatures, additional heat will only cause harm;
  • Do not swim in a pool with chlorinated water;
  • you cannot engage in vigorous physical activity that is accompanied by active sweating;
  • It is not recommended to use decorative cosmetics;
  • you cannot sunbathe in the solarium or on the beach;
  • do not use self-tanning products;
  • do not peel off the crusts that have appeared on the treated areas;
  • do not use exfoliating products two weeks before the procedure and during the recovery period.
