Aesthetic taping or Botox, which is more effective?

Cosmetic facial taping is a non-invasive procedure to get rid of signs of aging. Changes in appearance occur due to loss of skin turgor, weakening or spasms of the facial muscles.

Collagen and hyaluronic acid give elasticity and firmness to young skin. Normally, they are produced in sufficient quantities by the body itself. With age, their synthesis slows down and the rate of decay increases. This leads to sagging skin.

On the other hand, the frontal muscles, due to many years of active facial expressions, can remain in a spasmodic state, collecting the skin and subcutaneous layers into “folds.” The muscles of the lower part of the face, on the contrary, weaken, sag, and the oval loses its clarity.

Cosmetic taping helps stop these processes and restore normal tissue functioning.

Facial taping technique

The effect of taping is based on the fact that when it sticks, it contracts slightly and pulls the skin towards itself. The space under the dermis increases, the pressure on the vessels decreases. The flow of lymph and blood becomes freer. Congestion is eliminated, nutrition of facial cells improves.

Under the influence of the tape, muscles relax, creases on the forehead and between the eyebrows are straightened, the drooping upper eyelid and corners of the lips are lifted, and cheekbones are outlined.

Effects and benefits of regular facial taping:

  • smoothes wrinkles;
  • eliminates sagging skin;
  • tightens, creates a clear oval of the face;
  • removes double chin;
  • relieves swelling;
  • improves microcirculation and cellular nutrition;
  • accelerates skin regeneration.

How facial tapes work, principle of action

Cosmetologists claim that facial taping helps achieve the following effect:

  1. When the tape is applied with slight tension, the position of the skin changes. This helps improve lymph flow, remove swelling, and tone muscles.
  2. Tapes also have a superficial effect on the skin: they activate nerve endings at the points where the tape is applied.
  3. Tapes help stimulate the superficial fascia (connective tissue that is localized under the layer of subcutaneous fatty tissue of the skin).

Rules for facial taping

Achieving noticeable results depends on following the rules.

  1. Prepare your facial skin for taping. Remove makeup, degrease with alcohol solution, wipe dry.
  2. Relax your facial muscles, warm them up with a light massage.
  3. Hold the tape in your hands to heat and soften the adhesive layer.
  4. Apply the tape without tension, along the massage lines. Direction - from center to periphery. Chin and forehead from bottom to top. This way you set the muscles to the correct physiological position.
  5. Rub the glued tape to activate the adhesive layer.
  6. Wearing time 30 minutes - 8 hours. If you need long-term treatment for deep wrinkles, apply the tape overnight. Sleep on your back.
  7. Before removing the applications, soak them in cosmetic oil or a special spray.
  8. Carefully remove the strips without stretching and holding the skin.
  9. Wash your face and apply a soothing moisturizer.

Today, nasolabial taping and boasting - I received a gift :)

I continue to talk about taping. And today I’ll also boast, it was a surprise for me - I won a gift on Instagram in a competition where you have to tag your friends under the post. I didn’t really believe in it, and wow, I was finally lucky. I took part in a competition on the Wowbox account from Cosmopolitan, they are giving away beauty boxes there, and once my favorite Kinexib tapes for the face and neck were at stake. And then suddenly they write in direct message that you have won and “send your details.” And, indeed, SDEK sent the package. Packed with a bang, of course! A whole box, and inside there are only two bags of lifting tapes)))) But two bags for free is also good)).

Generally a good thing. I now have a “home-village-home” life, so these beauty tapes are convenient to take with me.

And specifically about taping. Yesterday I was in the village, at night I made applications for vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows (I have two of them and are quite distinct) and nasolabial ones.

And this evening Inga and I returned home, as her friends were invited to Birthday. Well, I left all my things in the village, and I definitely take a bag of kinesio tapes and lifting tapes with me)))).

This is how I prepared to sleep today.

Today I didn’t stick it on my forehead, because I’ve been struggling with the eyebrows for about a month and a half now, and they have become noticeably smaller, and now I’m applying it every two or three days, and on the nasolabial area every day for now.

For the nasolabial area, I found the simplest option for taping: the anchor is glued near the ear, and the legs of the tape are laid towards the nasolabial area to the wings of the nose, a little lower and to the corner of the mouth. In the video I used to glue it, the tape had 4 legs distributed, and since I have a “three-legged” one in the package, I did it that way. The tape is applied without tension, the skin of the face is stretched - during the process of gluing, the mouth should be made like the letter “O”. And Google and Instagram show such applications that you can’t do every single one without outside help.

While I am afraid to do such options, when the tape runs from the forehead along the nose to the corners of the lips, if it is applied incorrectly and a fold is made on the skin, then a new wrinkle is guaranteed. That's why I choose the easy way))).

And then today I messed up again. Yesterday, one bag of beauty tapes ran out on one W-shaped tape, and there are an even number of them, which means that at some point it was not possible to stick them correctly right away, and I can’t re-glue them, they curl up and stick together. This bag will obviously end up with an uneven number)))) Today I had to do a second take on the right side. No matter how much glue I use, I still make mistakes)))

Kinesiology facial taping

The general name of the procedure comes from the words kinesio - movement, and tape - tape, i.e. “moving belt”, “moving belt”. Initially, the method was used to restore athletes, treat injuries, increase endurance in training, and prepare for competitions.

In cosmetology, facial taping is used because of its ability to influence the moving tissues of the face - muscles, blood, lymph.

Types of aesthetic taping are aimed at combating the main age-related problems that worsen the appearance.

Facial tapes – what you need to know about them before the procedure

Often, wanting to save money, we buy goods of poor quality - and, as a result, overpay many times over. When it comes to facial tapes, you need to approach the purchase responsibly: purchase the product only in specialized and well-established places - in pharmacies and online cosmetology stores.

The bulk of these patches are produced today in the countries of Central Asia - in Japan, China, South Korea.

All tapes are divided according to a number of parameters, such as:

  • Classification - strips are divided according to their purpose: cosmetic, for athletes, for pain and various osteochondrosis, and so on.
  • Dimensions - length and width are selected depending on the tasks and problem areas of the facial area.
  • The direction in which the stripes are applied and the pressure applied are also of great importance .

As a rule, the following tapes are used to work with the facial area:

  • 1 cm narrow tape in flesh color.
  • 2.5 cm flesh-colored tape.
  • Lymphatic drainage tape in flesh-colored colors.
  • Cross-tapes are improved versions of strips, used when the results of classic kinesiotaping are low or unsatisfactory.

Which set of adhesive strips to choose for you will depend on what your goal is.

And you need to choose a product of suitable sizes and properties directly at the pharmacy, or check with a consultant in the online store.

Lymphatic drainage taping of the face

The purpose of taping is to eliminate swelling and restore normal lymph flow.

  • Use wide ribbons. Measure a length equal to the distance from ear to nose. Cut into strips 0.5-1.5 cm, leaving a common base (anchor).
  • Secure the anchor in the area of the parotid lymph node. Having distributed the rays evenly across the cheek, stick them one at a time without tension.

The result of taping is a decrease in facial puffiness, the nasolabial fold is less pronounced.

Eyelid drainage

  • Measure the length of the strip from the ear to the inner corner of the eye. Cut into 4 rays. Anchor the parotid lymph node.
  • Direct the lower beam to the inner corner of the eye. The second is to the external. Trim off any excess length.
  • Place the third ray under the eyebrow. The fourth is along the hairline.
  • Repeat on the other side.

Lymphatic drainage taping of the entire face

  • Cut the wide tape into at least 6 rays.
  • Secure the anchor in the supraclavicular cavity.
  • Tilt your head back and to the side opposite the application area.
  • Gradually removing the protective paper, glue the rays along the neck, lower jaw, cheek to the orbicularis oculi muscle.
  • When applying tape to your cheek, inflate it to avoid wrinkles.
  • Try to guide the extreme beam along the border of the nasolabial triangle.

The order and technique of lymphatic drainage taping applications: the anchor should be located on the lymph node, the rays should go along the lines of large lymphatic vessels without tension. Taping lifts the skin and subcutaneous layers at the attachment points. The pressure decreases and there is more space. The outflow of lymphatic fluid accelerates. Swelling becomes less.

Tapes leave marks on the face, how to get rid of them

Tapes always leave slight redness - this is normal. Typically, such marks disappear after a couple of hours and do not bring any noticeable discomfort to the user.

However, if you experience redness caused by hyperemia, be sure to take a break from using the patches for a couple of days, and treat the damaged area with a restorative cream. If repeated use causes a reaction again, then you should stop taping.

Every year, the cosmetology industry offers its clients more and more non-invasive rejuvenation methods. One of the relative novelties is taping. This is a way to eliminate wrinkles and tighten facial contours using special kinesio tapes that accelerate blood flow, relieving muscle tension and swelling.

Combined kinesio taping of the face

Taping schemes allow you to work on several problem areas at once.

Forehead + bags under eyes

Glue two long strips crosswise from the outer corners of the eyes along the border of the eye socket through the nose to the opposite eyebrow to the hairline. The place where the ribbons cross is the bridge of the nose.

Fasten two short pieces above the eyebrows, stick them up to the hair without tension.

Which tapes are better?

Facial taping at home is a popular procedure among girls and women who want to maintain youth, get rid of wrinkles, and give their face clear contours. It is recommended to use high-quality materials to avoid an allergic reaction to the adhesive components, as well as to reduce pain when removing them.

Indications and contraindications

Taping is shown as a preventive measure and helping to eliminate existing imperfections and problems on the face:

  • small, medium wrinkles on the face, neck;
  • ptosis, loss of clarity of the oval of the face;
  • swelling, sagging of the upper eyelid.

Contraindications include:

  • ENT diseases, breathing problems;
  • paralysis, inflammation of the facial nerves;
  • increased body temperature;
  • allergy to tape materials;
  • damage, inflammation, neoplasms on the skin;
  • hypertension, migraines;
  • exacerbation of chronic diseases.

Benefits of cosmetic facial taping:

  1. Low price, availability of tapes. In comparison with course procedures in beauty salons, taping can be considered the main option for appearance care.
  2. Self-execution. Gluing strips does not require the help of a specialist and can be done at home. But it is still recommended to get an initial consultation from a cosmetologist or doctor.
  3. Non-invasive. Best suited for those who do not want or are afraid of injection rejuvenation or plastic surgery.
  4. Painless. Correctly applied tape does not cause discomfort or pain. On the contrary, the muscles relax, the feeling of tension in the cheekbones, jaw, forehead, and behind the ears decreases.

The disadvantage of the technique is the short duration of the effect. A combination of available care methods - peelings, biorevitalization, face-building, massage, facial taping - gives the best result, which lasts longer.

Customer Reviews

Advertised tapes have sown in the minds of many users the erroneous opinion that kinesio tapes are a magic wand that helps restore youthful skin in a couple of uses. Therefore, many negative reviews have no basis, because most often commentators used applications no more than 3-4 times.

Those who decided to look at the results of the procedure in the long term claim that there is an effect from using tapes. Yes, it is not as noticeable as from invasive procedures, but it is still there. The only negative is that it does not last long, so the tapes should be used regularly and combined with massage and other cosmetic procedures.

Why Botox?

This is a drug created on the basis of inactivated botulinum toxins type A. In aesthetic cosmetology, it is used to correct facial contours, reduce facial wrinkles, etc.

Botulinum toxin is actually a powerful poison. However, the proportions used by cosmetologists are absolutely harmless to the body as a whole, but they temporarily relax certain muscles. In the absence of motor activity, the skin is smoothed and the facial contour is evened out.

The drug began to be used in the cosmetology field after successful experience in neurology. For medicinal purposes, the use of Botox is still practiced in such areas as the elimination of:

  • facial asymmetry after strokes or with cerebral palsy;
  • strabismus;
  • spasmodic torticollis;
  • headaches;
  • bruxism (involuntary grinding of teeth during sleep);
  • hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Changing muscle activity plays a key role in cosmetic oval shaping with Botox injections. The drug, injected under the skin to a certain depth, affects the muscles or their individual parts, thereby creating the desired relief.

The cosmetology clinic offers you the following procedures:

  • biorevitalization of the neck;
  • mesotherapy of the scalp;
  • biorevitalization;
  • plasma lifting;
  • injection cosmetology;
  • etc.

Basic taping techniques

Each problem requires the selection of the optimal technique and taping scheme. To achieve a rejuvenation effect, tapes are applied to problem areas. Correction of nasolabial folds involves the application of tapes in the middle and lower third of the face.

The technique of applying kinesio patches requires careful study. You can gain the necessary knowledge on how to apply tapes at taping courses and reinforce them when performing practical tasks remotely, at master classes. Otherwise, there is a risk that the effectiveness of the procedure will be minimal. You can learn more about the basic taping techniques by taking part in an aesthetic taping seminar.

Benefits of the procedure

The list of advantages of taping includes:

  1. High efficiency. The result achieved after a course of procedures lasts for a long time.
  2. Availability. The cost of tape, the only consumable material required for manipulation, is low.
  3. Minimum of adverse reactions. The tape is hypoallergenic and extremely rarely can cause hypersensitivity of the skin. Also, if the procedure is carried out incorrectly, it can have the opposite effect - stretching of the skin. Therefore, you should not neglect completing the basic training course.

What are the contraindications for aesthetic taping?

There are practically no restrictions when choosing the area of application of kinesio tapes.

The main contraindication for use is the absence of open wounds and damage.

Special patches can be used on the neck, cheeks, décolleté, under the eyes and other areas. The duration of use of kinesio tapes and the number of sessions are determined individually. It all depends on the patient’s return and the nature of the aesthetic problem. The main advantage of high-quality and original facial tapes produced in South Korea is safety. The hypoallergenic adhesive base does not cause redness, irritation, rashes or other skin problems.

Why does this work effectively?

Up to a certain age, the skin consists of almost 75% collagen. This is a protein that helps maintain firmness, elasticity and overall good skin condition. Over time, collagen content decreases and the ability to self-heal is lost. Mimic contraction of facial muscles, external influences, age-related and other changes lead to the appearance of wrinkles. Kinesio tape gently affects and “massages” the skin with every movement, stimulating the processes of blood flow and lymphatic system. By maintaining the vitality and elasticity of the skin, it is possible to significantly improve its appearance and condition.

Results from using the aesthetic taping technique:

  • Improving the contour of the oval face;
  • Elimination of “crow’s feet” in the corners of the eyes;
  • Reduction of the “double” chin;
  • Restoration of complexion;
  • Elimination of the eyebrow fold;
  • Improving the appearance of loose and withered skin;
  • Getting rid of bags and dark circles under the eyes;
  • Reduced swelling, etc.

Tapes disrupt skin barrier properties

Whatever women indulge in, as long as there is no harm. But in this case there is harm.

It is recommended to use tapes regularly - apply them for several hours or even leave them overnight. Which in itself is not good - it is not good that there is a patch on the skin all the time. This adversely affects the microbiome and overall skin health.

But besides this, when a person removes the adhesive tape, he injures the epidermis, which leads to a violation of the barrier properties of the skin.

As a result, the skin intensively loses moisture, becomes more sensitive, more permeable to smog particles and those components of cosmetics that should not penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. The skin also becomes more vulnerable to ultraviolet rays.

So when you ask: how do I feel about tapes? I hear: how do you refer to the violation of the barrier properties of the skin?

Of course, I will answer in the negative.

What is important?

Effective rejuvenation using patches and fairly quick results are possible if several conditions are met.

The first and most important thing is to follow the recommendations. If in doubt, do not use Kinzio tape on your own without first consulting your doctor. This is important because any health risks must always be excluded. The second condition is the use of original, certified, that is, high-quality kinesio tapes for the face, which you can buy here

The next thing is proper gluing. The patches are placed in the direction of the massage lines, following certain rules for preparing for the procedure. The area of skin on which the tape is applied must be dry, clean, and free of grease. It is better to round the edges of the tape.
