What are the breast sizes?

To determine it, you need to use a centimeter tape to measure the circumference of your chest at the most protruding points. Then measure the circumference of the chest along the line of the inframammary fold (under the breast). What types of implants are there?
Manufacturers offer a wide selection of breast implants, from which every woman can choose the most suitable model for herself. All are divided into round and anatomical.
Round
Suitable for women who have a lack of volume, but have a sufficient amount of their own tissue. After implantation, the breast acquires a rounded shape due to the filling of the upper pole.
Round models use a gel of soft consistency. When the body is in an upright position, it moves slightly downward and, as a result, the breast takes on a more teardrop-shaped shape. When the body is in a horizontal position, the gel spreads evenly, resulting in the contours of the mammary gland becoming close to natural. However, many patients are embarrassed by the presence of large volume in the upper part of the breast, so they prefer more natural options.

Anatomical
Drop-shaped breast implants have a cone shape and are recommended for women who, along with increasing the volume of the mammary gland, want to maintain the smoothness of its contours. Such models are well suited for patients with elastic skin and who are naturally thin.
Anatomical implants are denser in structure and even in a supine position they hold the breasts without changing their shape; as a result, the glands look a little unnatural. Also, sometimes there may be unevenness along the edges of the installed implant.
How to determine breast size after mammoplasty?
The size of the mammary glands after mammoplasty is discussed with the plastic surgeon at the initial consultation and selected individually. You can bring with you to your appointment a photo with examples of the bust that you find most attractive. The doctor will certainly take the necessary measurements, conduct an examination and clarify your wishes. Trying on sizers will help you decide on the choice of implants and breast size.
In addition to wishes, the following parameters influence the determination of breast size after mammoplasty:
- Volume, profile and type of implants;
- Place of installation of implants (under the pectoral muscles or under the gland);
- Type of access (localization of scars);
- Initial size and anatomical features of the mammary glands, interthoracic distance;
- Type of chest, features of body structure and build (height and weight).
Note that an equally important factor is the condition and quality of the skin. Large implants can be installed in women with a large lower base of the gland. If your own gland is practically absent, feels dense to the touch, and the submammary fold is not formed, then it will not be possible to install large implants. Firstly, the skin will not stretch and cover a large area of the implants. Secondly, even if it does, the implants may be too noticeable in this case, and the nipples may look downward. If you want more, you must first install dentures of an acceptable size, and over time replace them with larger ones.
A plastic surgeon is always on the side of his patient - he is interested in an excellent aesthetic result and will never just be “greedy” with the size of implants for breast enlargement. It’s just that sometimes it is objectively impossible to install large implants, for example, due to the risk of complications and unsatisfactory aesthetic results.
Coordination
It is worth noting that patients and attending physicians have different views on what size is best for mammoplasty. If the former rely on a subjective aesthetic assessment of the desired result, then surgeons take into account objective parameters that characterize the individual characteristics of the woman’s body and body structure.
Changing breast volume is a very responsible process, often associated with serious difficulties at the approval stage. How to determine what is better: a fuller bust or a slight increase? How can you be sure before surgery that this result is appropriate?
Often people are guided by the advice of relatives, close friends or commentators from the Internet. Of course, they should not be completely neglected, but they reflect a private opinion based, as is correct, on personal preferences. Do not forget that during the first 2-3 months after the operation, the implants only take root, which means that it is too early to correctly assess the result, including the size of the mammary glands. 2 months after breast augmentation surgery, you can wear a bralette, and after 3 months you can go shopping for new beautiful “cups” that will highlight a beautiful cleavage and new sexy shapes.
How to choose the right breast implant size
It is better to go to the first appointment prepared in order to obtain the doctor’s approval for augmentation mammoplasty. You can determine the approximate size of the endoprosthesis yourself by taking the necessary measurements:
- Mark a straight line from the hollow between the collarbones to the navel.
- Draw a parallel at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from line A. It should not be as long - the upper point is at the level of the armpit, the lower point is under the chest.
- Draw a horizontal line from the armpit to line A to make a perpendicular.
- From the lower edge of the nipple, draw a vertical line 5-6 cm long and mark a point.
- Draw a perpendicular to line A, passing through point D. Then you need to connect a point on the armpit of line B with an inclined line until it intersects with line D. And take two measurements: 1st - horizontally through the middle of the nipple from line B to the inclined line, 2nd — vertically through the middle of the nipple from line B to line D.

Only a difference of 100 ml will be significant. A smaller volume does not affect the visual or sensations in any way, so there is no need to suffer from doubts because of 40-50 ml.

Using external sizers
When agreeing to surgery, you must understand that breast implants are not pads that can be removed or replaced with others. This is a part of the body, and it should feel comfortable at work, when playing sports, while sleeping and walking.
All manufacturers of endoprostheses offer sizers that can be worn for some time before mammoplasty in order to choose the appropriate size, but taking into account the following recommendations:
- Wear a tight-fitting bra, preferably a sports bra. Sizers cover the breasts rather than being underneath the muscle or gland, so they don't give a clear look without proper tightening.
- Wear different clothes, changing styles and colors. Tight-fitting tops visually add volume, while loose fits reduce it.
- When you look in the mirror, imagine that you see another woman and give an objective assessment of “her” appearance.
It is also worth finding out the opinion of family members, not forgetting that they may have their own ideals of proportions.
